In 2022, only 32% of Canadians reported that healthcare providers always communicated effectively about their care, while 42% said communication was usually good. One in four Canadians (24%) recalled past experiences where providers lacked access to their health history. In the last 12 months, 21% had to repeat information to different providers, and 17% experienced delays or issues due to poor communication between healthcare teams. Notably, 8% reported compromised health outcomes and another 8% had to redo diagnostic tests due to unavailable records. These findings highlight ongoing challenges in coordinated, connected care across Canada’s healthcare system.
