In 2022, 80% of Canadians expressed interest in accessing their personal health information (PHI) electronically, with 36% having done so at least once and 29% within the last 12 months. Lab results (82%), immunization records (55%), and medication history (40%) were the most commonly accessed data types. The most used platforms were LifeLabs’ myResults (19%), Carnet Santé (15%), and myHealth.Alberta.ca (13%). Users largely reported improved awareness and self-management—89% felt more informed about their health and 84% found the platforms easy to use. Additionally, 25% avoided an in-person clinic visit thanks to online PHI access.
