The 2022 Canadian Digital Health Survey reveals growing interest in virtual care options such as video visits (59%), telephone consultations (72%), and secure messaging with providers (59%). Despite rising interest, actual usage remains more modest—46% of Canadians had a telephone consultation in the past, while only 18% used video. Telehomecare usage remained low (8%). Most recent virtual visits were with family doctors (59.5%) and predominantly occurred by phone (78%). Top reasons for choosing virtual care included time savings (41%), shorter wait times (26%), and convenience. Canadians expressed strong comfort and satisfaction with virtual visits—over 68% felt safe, and 58% said their health concern was addressed effectively.
