Sustainable health care focuses on delivering quality care while minimizing environmental impact. The survey highlights that health care contributes significantly to greenhouse gas emissions, accounting for about 4.6% of Canada's total emissions. While over 80% of Canadians surveyed are concerned about climate change, only around one-third were aware that health care contributes to these emissions before the survey. Virtual care is recognized for its potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by cutting down patient travel. Nearly two-thirds of respondents agreed that knowing about the environmental benefits of virtual care makes them more likely to choose virtual visits when available.
