Infoway Led Digital Health Landscape Surveys

The Regional Cancer Care Program in Northwestern Ontario implemented a comprehensive Electronic Medical Record (EMR) to integrate 13 satellite clinics across the region and improve the quality of information and timely access to the information contained with the patients' records. This report found an overall positive staff satisfaction with the EMR and patient access to symptom management referrals, thus increasing compliance to quality practice standards. The report also highlights change management challenges and requirements to support benefits realization objectives. This report is available in English only.
This report highlights the successful outcomes of North York General Hospital’s (NYGH) Computerized Provider Order Entry (CPOE) toolkit. The report found the increasing participation of CPOE Toolkit users  provides evidence that its importance is being realized and will continue to grow as more organizations embark on CPOE implementations.

Physicians’ Use of Digital Health and Information Technologies in Practice The 2018 Canadian Physician Survey (CPS) focused on the use of digital health technologies in practice by primary care (family physicians/general practitioners) and specialist physicians. Physicians across Canada were recruited to participate between January and March 2018 via a multi-method direct-to-physician fax invitation and national communications campaign. The survey instrument and all promotion and recruitment communication were available in French and English
The survey, conducted by Infoway and the Canadian Medical Association (CMA), aims to better understand the use of digital health and information technology among physicians in Canada.
The Connecting Patients for Better Health 2018 report provides the latest availability, use and citizen interest in accessing their health information online as well as digitally enabled health services (e-services). The results are from four public opinion surveys administered between February and March 2014 – 2018, and are nationally representative of Canadians by age, province/territory and gender.
Infoway has been tracking specific aspects of digital health awareness, utilization and perceptions among Canadians annually since 2010 to better understand the Canadian digital health landscape. This report provides highlighted results from the 2019 Survey of Canadians with selected trending statistics from the 2018 Survey. The 2018 and 2019 Surveys of Canadians are based on a variety of specific system utilization and attitudinal tracking metrics used in previous years as well as new areas of inquiry. However, inequalities in access due to social determinants of health may still exist. The Digital Health Equity (DHE) analysis aims to investigate these access disparities. It explores variations in electronic access to personal health information (PHI) across various sociodemographic, socioeconomic, health-related, and digital factors. This analysis uses data from the 2023 Canadian Digital Health Survey (CDHS), which was commissioned by Canada Health Infoway.
Infoway conducted a first of its kind pan-Canadian scan to establish a baseline of progress and opportunities in areas such as pan-Canadian health data standards and systems, as well as patient summary, eReferral, and eConsult.

2024 Digital Health Equity Analysis

The 2024 Digital Health Equity (DHE) analysis aims to investigate disparities in electronic access to personal health information (PHI) and patient-reported experience measures (PREMs) across various sociodemographic, socioeconomic, health-related, and digital equity factors. This analysis uses data from the 2024 Canadian Digital Health Survey (CDHS), which was commissioned and released by Canada Health Infoway earlier this year.
