The 2021 National Survey of Canadian Physicians, conducted by Canada Health Infoway (Infoway) and the Canadian Medical Association (CMA), aims to better understand the use of digital health and information technology among physicians in Canada.

Survey Topics

The overall objective of this study is to explore physicians’ perspectives on their use and impact of virtual and digital health information technologies in practice. The survey is also aimed at understanding and identifying trends that will build on findings from previous 2017 and 2019 survey results.
  • Virtual Care
    Virtual care is defined as any interaction between patients and/or members of their circle of care, occurring remotely, using any forms of communication or information technologies, with the aim of facilitating or maximizing the quality and effectiveness of patient care.
  • Digital Health Use
    Digital health use refers to use of EMR and electronic tools/functions by Canadian physicians in their practice.
  • Respondent Profile
    Respondent profile includes age, gender, geography and other variables describing the study sample.
