About the Survey

Canada Health Infoway and the Canadian Pharmacists Association (CPhA) collaborated jointly and commissioned the 2022 National Survey of Canadian Community Pharmacists: Use of e-prescribing and Digital Health Tools in Practice through an external third-party research firm, Environics Research. This national survey of Canadian pharmacists explored pharmacists’ use of digital health technologies and electronic prescribing in practice.

Survey Topics

The research objective of the survey was to provide an assessment of community pharmacists’ perspectives around current use and potential impact of electronic prescribing and digital health technologies in practice.
  • e-Prescribing
    e-Prescribing is the secure electronic creation and transmission of a prescription between an authorized prescriber and a patient’s pharmacy of choice, using clinical electronic medical record (EMR) and pharmacy management software.
  • Dispensing Workflow
    Dispensing workflow refers to the availability, use of and satisfaction with digital health tools/functions and the medication dispensing workflow.
  • Respondent Profile
    Respondent profile refers to the location, size and type of pharmacy along with respondent demographics that describe the study sample.
